Plant Maintenance Supervisor

Job Description

Our client is seeking an experienced Plant Maintenance Supervisor to provide frontline leadership and oversight of maintenance activities within its mining operations in Northeastern British Columbia.

This position is responsible for the safe and effective execution of preventative, predictive and corrective maintenance across plant equipment and facilities. The Plant Maintenance Supervisor will coordinate maintenance priorities, resources and work schedules to support equipment reliability, minimize downtime and meet operational requirements.

Working closely with plant leadership, production, warehouse and procurement teams, the successful candidate will provide hands on leadership to maintenance personnel, strengthen maintenance processes and support continuous improvement across plant operations.

Responsibilities

  • Direct maintenance crews in the installation, repair, preventative maintenance and ongoing upkeep of plant equipment and facilities.
  • Coordinate maintenance priorities and schedules with plant leadership and production teams based on operational requirements, equipment condition and resource availability.
  • Prepare detailed work scopes, including task requirements, tools, resources, timelines and other requirements necessary for effective maintenance execution.
  • Oversee preventative and predictive maintenance programs, maintenance systems, standard operating procedures and supporting documentation.
  • Monitor maintenance performance through key performance indicators, including equipment reliability, overall equipment effectiveness and contractor and supplier performance.
  • Maintain accurate work orders, maintenance records, equipment utilization data and status reporting to support effective planning and decision making.
  • Collaborate with warehouse and procurement teams to ensure parts, materials and resources are available for planned and unplanned maintenance activities.
  • Provide technical guidance and troubleshooting support to operating teams, identifying root causes of equipment failures and developing practical long term solutions.
  • Train and develop employees on appropriate work methods, maintenance practices and safety procedures.
  • Ensure preventative maintenance inspections are thoroughly completed and documented, including the accurate completion and maintenance of PM inspection sheets.
  • Maintain the integrity and accuracy of maintenance and workforce documentation, including work orders, requisitions, contractor time sheets, employee timecards, disciplinary records and incident and accident investigations.
  • Participate in maintenance budgeting and resource planning, supporting the efficient allocation of labour, contractors, materials and other resources.
  • Promote a culture of safety, accountability, teamwork and continuous improvement across the maintenance function.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent, with a Bachelor's degree in Engineering or a related discipline considered an asset.
  • Minimum two years of maintenance or process project engineering experience, with Red Seal certification as an Electrician, Millwright or Welder considered an asset.
  • Previous supervisory or leadership experience within plant maintenance, mining, heavy industrial or a comparable operating environment.
  • Demonstrated experience implementing preventative, predictive and proactive maintenance strategies.
  • Proven understanding of plant maintenance operations, equipment reliability and continuous improvement practices.
  • Experience managing maintenance budgets, resources, work schedules and competing operational priorities.
  • Effective analytical and problem solving capabilities, with experience using operational and maintenance data to improve equipment performance and reduce downtime.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of maintenance planning, work order management and preventative maintenance programs, including the completion and documentation of PM inspections and inspection sheets.
  • Effective leadership and interpersonal skills with the ability to train employees and foster a culture of safety, integrity and teamwork.
  • Strong organizational and time management capabilities with the ability to coordinate multiple maintenance priorities in a dynamic operating environment.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office, including Excel, Word and Outlook, and the ability to work effectively with maintenance and workforce administration systems.
  • Ability to work 12 hour day shifts on a 7 days on, 7 days off rotation.
